Aldrovandi was born in Bologna to Teseo Aldrovandi and his wife, a noble but poor family. While in Rome under house arrest he fell in love with the natural world, and began the work that would define the rest of his life.
Aldrovandi works at Hishoria. He travelled quite a bit in his quest for specimens and recorded his observations in some manuscripts, a number of which were published during his lifetime.
